CURSILLO BOARD MINUTES
Fort Hood Cursillo
Board of Directors Meeting
December 1, 2006
Minutes
I. The board of directors meeting started at 7:00 p.m. with a prayer by Shirley Nagle.
II. Attendance: Those in attendance were Shirley Nagle, Nyrma Navarro, Cynthia Neve, John Frost,
Phyllis Gogue and Allie Krebs. Absent from the meeting were Barb Krakowiak, Linda Abrams, and Deacon
Fred Jones.
III. Old Business/Minutes:
A. November Minutes: The November Minutes were read by Allie Krebs. Shirley Nagle made a motion that
we accept the November Minutes as written. Nyrma Navarro seconded the motion. The motion was
carried.
B. Cursillo History: A meeting to discuss the history of the Cursillo movement for Central Texas will be
held on January 5, 2006 at 6:30 p.m.
C. Retreat Center Plumbing: Cynthia Neve suggested we send Liz a card and a check to help with the
repair of the broken water line at the Elk Retreat Center. Phyllis Gogue made the motion that the board
sends a card and check to help cover the broken water line. John Frost seconded the motion. The
motion was carried. A card and check will be sent to Liz at the Elk Retreat Center to help in repairing the
broken water line.
IV. New Business:
A. After Action Reports: After action reports for the women=s and men=s weekends were submitted to
the board for review.
B. Cursillo Candidate Standard: Allie Krebs made a motion that a Cursillo Candidate must have
completed R.C.I.A. before they are allowed to attend the weekend. Nyrma Navarro seconded the motion.
The motion was denied. John Frost made a motion that a Cursillo Candidate who is a practicing catholic,
and who has received all the sacraments of initiation be allowed to attend the weekend. Phyllis Gogue
seconded the motion. The motion was carried. Phyllis Gogue suggested to Shirley Nagle that she talk to
National and find out what screening process they go through in screening candidates.
C. Epiphany Party: The Epiphany Party will be held on January 7, 2007 at Holy Family in Copperas Cove.
The party will start at 2:00 p.m. The party will be held in place of the January Ultreya. Phyllis Gogue
suggested we not offer prizes or gifts to each other this year. John Frost suggested we offer gifts in the
form of prayers to the Baby Jesus. He suggested a script for the "Three Kings" to present the gifts to the
Baby Jesus. A cake will be provided that has three beans in it. The three who get the beans will be one of
the three kings who will present gifts to the Baby Jesus. The kings will have a robe and crown to wear
when presenting the gifts to the Baby Jesus.
The Cursillo will provide for the cake and drinks. Nyrma Navarro will provide the paper products and
plastic ware. Members are asked to bring a potluck dish according to the first letter of their last name.
For example: If your last name begins with the letters
A-K, you might be asked to bring a meat dish, and so forth. John Frost will come up with the guidelines
for the potluck dinner.
V. Committee Reports:
A. Lay Director: Shirley Nagle informed the board of the next men and women=s weekend dates. She will
try to secure the Holy Family Conference Room as a meeting place for the 7 January 2007 meeting for the
Cursillo History Movement.
B. Assistant Lay Director: Nyrma Navarro asked about the status of the supplies that had been ordered
through Marie Powers.
C. Secretary: Allie Krebs had nothing to report.
D. Financial Secretary: Cynthia Neve needs receipts from the kitchen team for the food purchased on the
men=s weekend. The donations from the new Cursillistas from the women=s weekend went to the soup
kitchen for Thanksgiving Dinner.
E. Pre-Cursillo Coordinator: Barb Krakowiak was not present.
F. Post-Cursillo Coordinator: John Frost: The Epiphany Party will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family in
Copperas, Cove. The theme will be "The Three Kings". If you have a prayer request, please put your
name on the request so it will be a prayer request and not a prayer chain letter.
G. Outside Palanca Coordinator: Phyllis Gogue: No report.
H. Spiritual Director: Deacon Fred was not present.
VI. The next board meeting will be Friday, January 5, 2007 at Holy Family conference room in
Copperas Cove. The meeting ended in prayer by John Frost at 9:01 p.m.
