Minutes from the
Fort Hood Heart of Texas Board of Directors Meeting
March 30, 2007

I.        The board of directors meeting was brought to order by Shirley Nagle, Lay Director, in the absence
of President, Linda Abrams at 11:05 am at 58th Street Chapel at Fort Hood, T.  Commencement Prayer was
lead by Spiritual Director, Deacon Fred Jones.

II.        Attendance: Those in attendance were Shirley Nagle, Orie Sanchez, Cynthia
Neve, John Frost, Phyllis Gogue and Deacon Fred Jones.  Absent: Linda
Abrams, Barb Krakowiak, and Nyrma Navarro.

III.        March Minutes: Minutes had been corrected with additions and corrections
through email.  Deacon Jones made the motion to accept minutes, seconded
by John Frost.  Voted and approved.

IV.        Old Business:

A. Ultreya:  has been moved to 3pm.  Suggested was made by Phyllis that because several people use
their working email addresses it would be better to put Ultreya announcement in the middle of the week-
Wednesday. John said he would do that and if he had time. He would send it again on Friday of the same
week.

B. Elections-Absentee voting-will be a special provision done by the board in case by case bases.

C. Parish Representative-After a lengthy discussion it was decided the the Pre-Cursillo Coordinator
would be the one to contact the Parish Representatives, These would be the parish representatives that
have been approved by the Lay Director. The primary duty will be to insure that the announcements of
Cursillo events get in their prospective church bulletin.  She will also contact them if they had any issues
regarding transportation for candidates attending weekends from their parish. Several names were
mentioned for all parishes. Shirley will contact them and see if they would be a parish representative. All
of this will help the Pre-Cursillo coordinator to have a point of contact in each parish.  Board Members
have already received copy of parish representative duties and will be part of the By-Laws and a copy
will be on record in the board minutes.

V.        Board Member Reports:

A.        Lay Director: Ask board for names to be prayed over for future weekends. Names were given.
Phyllis suggested keeping the original running list and adding the recent names to it. BOD agreed.
Captain Clean-Up for Women’s Weekend: John/????.  Shirley will contact Nyrma if she is able to help
John on these duties.  Men’s Clean-Up: Orie and possibly Barb also.

B.        Assistant Lay Director: Absent

C.        Secretary: Gave out candidate list for Women’s weekend to be posted on the web site. I will email
John the team members. Has a concern of not having current information on roster.  She believes that as
we concentrate on getting new candidates for the weekend, we lack communication with previous
cursillistas, except when we call for prayer wheel or donations.  She wants to work with John in making
our communication better and trying to keep in touch with them.  She also has offer two $25.00 gift
certificates for the cursillita that will bring the most cursillistas that did not attend our picnic last year to
this year’s picnic. Ties will be broken by picking the highest card in a deck.

D.        Financial Secretary:  All the funds are in for the women’s weekend. Nothing yet from the Men.
Shirley asked her to give a report on her trip to Elk with Assistant Lay Director-Nyrma.  Sternos needed.
Nyrma has supply list with items listed needed to be bought.  Have no batteries.  Phyllis stated that the
sternos should not be stored at Elk because of safety issues. At the end of the weekend, it should be
given to the Assistant Lay Director with the tops on them for proper storage.  Cynthia expressed that Sam’
s will not accepted a check from Heart of Texas Cursillo. Phyllis will get the cash and buy the supplies
needed. Cynthia will coordinate with Nyrma for the cash for supplies. Nyrma has supply list.

E.        Pre-Cursillo Co-coordinator- Absent

F.        Post-Cursillo Co-coordinator-  He will go to Elk to check the trail to insure it is cleared.  He asked
about Ultreya Speakers.  He is having a difficult time getting speakers.  Greg is still on hold. He has
asked Jonathan, but it is still  pending for May Ultreya.

G.        Outside Palanca Coordinator:  Got information from Shirley for a Cursillo Weekend being held at
her Mom’s home town in South Dakota.  Palanca is coming in and going out.

H.        Spiritual Director:  Will pick up monstrance, book of Sunday Readings for the Women’s Weekend.
There are enough hosts at Elk. Phyllis will check and will get back with him if there are not enough.  Orie
will ask Steve Vitucci if he will donate bottle of wine for weekend.  Regarding Priest: by the end of the
summer Ft. Hood will only have Father Dan. They hope to get more but not sure.  He is very supported of
Cursillo.  They also now have two Deacons.  John has been attending the Ft. Hood Pastoral Council
Meetings and reporting to our Lay Director, Shirley. Marie can order almost anything for us that we might
need for Cursillo supplies.  Pilgrim Guides have been ordered, but not received yet.

VI.        New Business:

By-Laws:  Phyllis made a motion to table it until after the Women’s Weekend.  Seconded by Shirley.
Discussion: Deacon Fred said that all we have to do is get the original copy of the By-Laws and
incorporated those proposed changes, view them, and vote on them.  BOD voted and approved.

Being no further business Deacon Fred closed with prayer and adjourned at 12:45 pm.

Next BOD meeting will be on May 4, 2007 at Holy Family at 7:00 pm.
