Minutes
Board of Directors Meeting
May 2, 2008

The meeting was called to order by President, Linda Abrams, at 7:15 P.M. at the 58th Street Chapel, Fort
Hood, TX.  Deacon Fred opened with a prayer.

Attendance:  Linda Abrams, Cynthia Neve, John Frost, Maria Sanchez, Nyrma Navarro, Deacon Fred
Jones, Shirley Nagle.  Absent were Jim DiSimoni and Orie Sanchez.

Minutes from the last meeting were approved by unanimous vote of members present.

Old Business: A ‘Donut Sunday’ will be held at Holy Family Social Hall following the first two Sunday
Masses there on September 14, 2008.  The custom is that each month a different ministry will host the
event and promote its ministry.

Discussion about the summer picnic took place and was tabled for the time being until such time that the
time and place could be secured.  Cynthia Neve made the motion to table further discussion, was
seconded by Deacon Fred.  Motion carried.

The Financial Secretary gave her report since last meeting which included expenses and income from
the women’s weekend that was held April 10-13, 2008.  Also included was a report of donations from
community for the water lines repair at the retreat center.  To date $400.00 has been donated.
Discussion followed about the amount to be sent to the retreat owner for repairs.  Shirley Nagle made
the motion to send a check in the amount of $700.00 to the retreat owner, and that, if applicable, any
amount over $700 in donations from the community would be sent to the owner of the retreat center to
help complete the repairs.   John Frost seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

The discussion for a Capitol Improvement Fundraiser was tabled until further information could be
obtained.

After a lengthy discussion about National Cursillo and the Austin Diocesan Cursillo movement, it was
decided that we would wait until an agreement could be made about time and place for a meeting.

Discussion followed about whether or not a small fee be submitted with applications to attend the
weekend.  Such fees would be used for supplies and/or administrative costs.  An agreement could not be
reached as to whether this would be necessary, and whether or not to make exceptions for certain
personnel.

A request was made to the Web Master to update the Cursillistas Roster and provide copies to the Board
members.

The Lay Director is in the process of securing Coordinators for the Fall of 2008.

A donation of a wall oven is being made to the Retreat Center.  Arrangements are being made for the
oven to be taken to the center to be installed by the owner.

The Pre-Cursillo Coordinator reported that she is securing drivers to carry the male candidates to the
retreat center for their weekend which is being held June 5-9, 2008.  She has invited the Parish
Representatives to attend the next board meeting.

The Post-Cursillo Coordinator said Ultreya will be held on Sunday, May 4.  Scheduled speaker is Deacon
Tim Dorsey.

The Spiritual Director reported that things are back to normal at the chapel.  Father John is back, Father
Gus will be leaving in June.  Fr. Kincl comes to the Fort Hood chapel once a month for the weekend
Masses.

Being no further matters to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 9:20 P.M. with a closing prayer by Deacon
Fred.

Next Board of Directors meeting will be held Friday, May 30 at 4:30 P.M. at the 58th Street Chapel on Fort
Hood.

Respectfully Submitted,

Shirley Nagle, Lay Director
(for Orie Sanchez, Secretary)
