Fort Hood Heart of Texas Cursillo
Board of Directors Meeting
February 29, 2008
I. Opening: the meeting was brought to order by President, Linda Abrams at the
Knights of Columbus Hall in Kempner. Opening prayer was done by Deacon
Fred Jones.
II. Attendance: Those attending include Linda Abrams, Shirley Nagle, Nyrma
Navarro, Cynthia Neve, Orie Sanchez, Maria Sanchez, and Deacon Fred Jones. Absent members: John Frost and Jim Disimoni. The
Board welcomed Maria Sanchez, now serving as Pre-Cursillo Coordinator and Jim Disimoni, Outside Palanca Coordinator.
III. Minutes for February: Were not submitted by substitute.
IV. Old Business: Orie Sanchez asked if Kitchen report and Angel’s inventory
Was submitted by Kitchen Leader and Angel from the last Women’s Weekend. Nyrma Navarro stated the Kitchen Report was turned
over to Liz DiSimoni, the new Kitchen Leader for the coming weekend. No one knew about the Angel’s inventory.
Cursillo community will donate four mattresses for Elk’s anniversary.
Pilgrim Guides: No news yet. If we do not get them several copies, made by
Phyllis Gogue will be use in place of the books. Fund Raiser: Be thinking of
what type of Fund raiser that we can do to help cover some of our expenses
for the weekends. Donut Sunday: Every parish should try to do one.
V. Board Members Reports:
Lay Director: Shirley Nagle said she would contact Liz at the Center to see if three team members could go to do inventory. She will get
back to Team Coordinator, Charl Munsey. She also gave dates for the future Weekends. Women’s is Oct 23-26, 2008 and Men’s is
Nov. 13-16, 2008.
Assistant Lay Director: Nyrma Navarro stated that she would like to go with the team members to the Center if she knew ahead of time
to help with the inventory. Asked about the next Team Coordinators. Board still praying for those that are on the list.
Secretary: Nothing to report.
Financial Secretary: Cynthia Neve submitted her treasure’s report. Was accepted.
Pre-Cursillo Coordinator: Maria Sanchez stated that she looked forward to working with the Board. Asked for assistance to prepare for
the coming Women’s Weekend. The Board said they would be available to assist her.
Post Cursillo Coordinator: Absent
Outside Palanca Coordinator: Absent
Spiritual Director: Deacon Fred reported that we are still short of Priests at Fort Hood. Father Gabriel is still here and Father Ken will be
going to Iraq. He has asked for prayers for his troops. He also stated that Ft. Hood will be giving us $250.00.
VI. New Business: Cursillo Kids: Our Lay Director, Shirley Nagle explained that the Cursillo Kids for our Ultreya has not had a good
response. The Board previously passed a motion to try it for six months. Orie Sanchez made the motion to no longer have the service.
Nyrma Navarro seconded the motion. Discussion: It was discussed that if any children show up at future Ultreyas, an adult will
volunteer to take care of the children during Ultreya. Motion passed.
VIII Closing: Deacon Fred Jones offered the closing prayer to end the meeting
and It was adjourned at 7:30 pm. April meeting will be on Friday, March 28
at the 58th Street Chapel in Fort Hood. It will start at 6pm.
