Coordinator requesting another meeting only with Phyllis Gogue, Deacon Fred Jones, and Shirley Nagle
for Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Temple with Doc Alvarez, Victor Lugo, Fr. Tom
Chamberlain, and himself.  Orie Sanchez felt that since John Frost was one of the original people who
had been having contacted Doc Alvarez, English Coordinator for the English Cursillo of the Austin
Diocese and he should be allow to attend.  After lengthy discussion, Shirley Nagle said she would contact
them and we would let the Board know of their decision.  Shirley Nagle also passed out copies of
“Articles of Operation for the U.S. Cursillo Movement, National policy for Cursillo Movements in the U.S.
of America, Regional Structure Guidelines, given to her by Mr. Aguillon, and a letter dated Oct. 2008 that
was posted on the Web site with good information.  She asked that this information be kept in our
individual Cursillo books to be passed to the new Board Members coming in.

Coordinators:  Orie Sanchez brought up that in the past minutes it was passed by the Board that two
weeks prior to the weekends they would meet with the Coordinators to make sure everything was set
and to be available to them if they needed any kind of assistance.  Deacon Fred Jones stated that they
could be invited to the next Board Meeting.  Shirley Nagle agreed and stated she would extend the
invitation to come to our March Board Meeting.

New Business:

Linen cleaning following weekends:  Phyllis Gogue stated that after reviewing how much the cost has
been for cleaning the table cloths after the weekend, she has found someone to do them at no cost to
Cursillo.  Shirley Nagle made a motion that we allow Phyllis Gogue’s contact to do the table cloths.
Seconded by Deacon Fred Jones. Discussion followed.  Shirley Nagle asked Nyrma Navarro if she could
write the proper process of washing Chapel linens and pass it on to the new Assistant Lay Director.  She
agreed.  It was also agreed that the table cloths will be given to Phyllis Gogue after each weekend, the
mattress covers, linens used by Father Chuck and Deacon, and Chapel linens will be given to the
Assistant Lay Director by the Angel or Aux following a weekend.  Motion carried.

Elections:  Orie Sanchez presented the Board with the sample of the ballots to be used for the coming
Elections.  The Board approved it.  Phyllis Gogue volunteer to run copies and have them ready for the
elections on Feb. 1, 2009.

Chapel/other supplies at Retreat Center:  Shirley Nagle asked if we needed any supplies for the Center.
Deacon Fred Jones expressed that we do not need Lectionary Books at this time.  Cynthia Neve said she
had already purchase the oil for the candles used on the Altar.  Phyllis Gogue asked Shirley Nagle to ask
Liz Pechacek if they could go to check on supplies.  Shirley Nagle said she would call her on Sunday and
get back to us.

Board of Director Reports:

President:  Bob Pfeffenberger asked why this position needed to be headed by an active member/dep of
the Armed Forces/National Guard.  Deacon Fred Jones answered his question.  Bob Pfeffenberger then
stated that he wanted the Board to know that he will be retiring probably in June and moving out of the
area.  Deacon Fred Jones thanked him for letting us know.

Lay Director:  Shirley Nagle said she was concern of Ms. Pechacek has not been paid yet for the
weekends.  Deacon Fred Jones said he had contacted the person in charge and will continue to follow
up on it.  After lengthy discussion and realizing the importance of this matter, Shirley Nagle made a
motion that Cursillo write a check for the amount of $1,000 and be sent to Liz Pechacek.  Seconded by
Nyrma Navarro. Another discussion followed. Motion carried.

Assistant Director:  Nyrma Navarro said that she had everything ready for the new Assistant Lay Director.
She also wanted the Board to know that she never had a book passed to her new successor.

Financial Secretary:  Cynthia Neve thanked the Board for their support during her time served as
Financial Secretary.  She gave out copies of the treasurer’s report to include the full year of 2008.
Deacon Fred Jones made a motion to accept the report as prepared and Shirley Nagle seconded.  No
discussion of report. Motion carried.  Cynthia Neve brought out that Cursillo will need a new account
open up by new Financial Secretary.  Phyllis Gogue expressed that the Chamber has a Regional Group
Account that they use.  She will check to see if Cursillo could use it too only if they will be no charges to
us and if we can get a Debit Card also at no charge.  Deacon Fred Jones made a motion to allow Phyllis
Gogue to see if we could get an account there.  Shirley Nagle seconded the motion. No further
discussion. Motion carried.

Secretary:  Orie Sanchez already had discussed minutes and ballots.

Outside Palanca Coordinator:  Absent.

Pre-Cursillo Coordinator:  Phyllis Gogue reported that she would drive up the candidates for the women’
s weekend and was available to Robin Spencer if she needed anything else.  She will not be able to
attend the Closura.  She also mentioned that she was going to check her schedule for May, but was
pretty sure that she is going to be out of town and would not be available to help with the transportation
for the Men’s weekend.  She will let us know for sure.

Post Cursillo Coordinator:  John Frost reported that Bettina Blackburn will be the guest speaker for
March Ultreya and he needed speakers for the next months.  He also discussed the May Ultreya.  Board
agreed that the Closura for the Men’s Weekend would be our May Ultreya.

Spiritual Director: Deacon Fred Jones wanted to share with us the situation now with Ft. Hood Priests.  It
is sad but it is a reality.  Right now our Sr. Pastor Father Ken Carlson is in the 13th SEC.  Those units
come and go. He thinks he might be leaving in August, 2009.  Father Michael Dominic is in Garrison for
one year and he may be leaving in July, 2009.  Father John Gabriel is on the way out.  Father Michael
Abusta was here before and just got back from Iraq but his tenure is up so he is getting his RFO and
probably going to Ft. Hucha and we are not going to keep him. Father Lee whose is Diocese Priest is a
contract Priest but is he is moving more remotely and a Computer Programmer and works out at College
Station and he has got to pack and walk because originally he wants a full time contract and probably not
going to get it so he is not doing as much. Father Nielson who is coming back, don’t know when, but he
might stay with us for awhile. Father Tyson, his unit is from West Ft Hood is getting ready to move out so
he will probably be leaving in April or May, 2009.  So much we do not know. It’s like a mystery of Faith.  I
cannot tell you who is going to be here by the end of the year.

Being no further business to discuss Deacon Fred Jones lead us in closing prayer. Meeting adjourned at
10:20am.

Next Board of Directors Meeting will be Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at 10:00 am at the 58th Street Chapel in
Fort Hood.

Respectfully Submitted,

Orie Sanchez
Secretary
