CURSILLO BOARD MINUTES
January 5, 2007
I. Commencement Prayer by Deacon Fred: The board of directors meeting started at 7:05 p.m. with a prayer by Deacon Fred
Jones.
II. Attendance: Those in attendance were Linda Abrams, Shirley Nagle, Nyrma Navarro, Cynthia Neve, Barb Krakowiak, John
Frost, Phyllis Gogue and Deacon Fred Jones. Absent from the meeting was Allie Krebs. Guest in attendance was Marge Jones.
III. Old Business/Minutes:
a. December Minutes: John Frost said he received the December Minutes and will post on the Cursillo website.
b. Epiphany Celebration: John briefed the board about the details of the Epiphany Celebration. Liz Dizimoni will be making the
Three Kings Cake. The celebration will be held at Holy Family Social Hall on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007 at 2 p.m.
IV. Committee Reports:
a. Lay Director: Shirley asked the board if it was proper for board members to nominate a person for the elections. Deacon and
the rest of the board said it was appropriate.
b. Assistant Lay Director: Nyrma is scheduling a trip to the retreat center in February to take inventory and organize the supply
closet. Nyrma mentioned that Liz is donating real table cloths for the dining room.
c. Secretary: Allie was not present to give a report. Phyllis volunteered to take the Minutes for the meeting.
d. Financial Secretary: Cynthia distributed a copy of the Financial Report. Phyllis requested approval to buy a 1Gig Thumb Drive
for the Lay Director. This medium is best to store data versus a CD. The board approved the request. Cynthia volunteered to make
the purchase. The board approved Phyllis’ request for reimbursing of supplies she purchased in advance to complete the following
notebooks: Coordinator, Adoration Team Leader and Kitchen Team Leader.
e. Pre-Cursillo Coordinator: Barb read an email to the board from Mike regarding board nominations. Mike supported the
nominations.
f. Post-Cursillo Coordinator: John requested for 5-6 notebooks to be used at Ultreya’s so that the small groups would have
something to write on when taking notes of the group discussion. John also noted that the supplies from National Headquarters
have been ordered.
g. Outside Palanca Coordinator: No report
h. Spiritual Director: Deacon Fred said priests from Holy Family provided services at Fort Hood masses due to the minimal
number of priests available. Deacon also informed the board that the women’s first team meeting was scheduled for Saturday,
Jan. 13 at 9 a.m. Deacon is going in for surgery for prostrate cancer and a hernia. The board offered up their prayers and support
for Deacon Fred.
V. New Business:
a. Certificates: The board tabled this subject till another meeting.
b. Elections and Nominations: The following people have been nominated for the following positions:
i. Assistant Lay Director: Nyrma Navarro and Jo Oates
ii. Secretary: Orie Sanchez
iii. Treasurer: Cynthia Neve
c. Website: Phyllis requested that we consider redesigning the homepage. No consensus was obtained about the website.
d. Other: Phyllis offered to review the proposed changes to the Cursillo History Introduction. Phyllis will also forward a copy of
the Parish announcements and the contact information for parishes in the region to John and Barb. Barb said she would take care
of submitting the Cursillo dates to the parishes and request the information be posted in the weekly bulletins.
VI. Closing Prayer: Deacon closed the meeting with a prayer. The next board meeting will be Friday, Feb. 9, 6:30 p.m. at Holy
Family.
