Meeting Minutes July 12,2008

CALL TO ORDER:

The monthly meeting of the Fort Hood/Heart of Texas Cursillo was held on Saturday, July 12,2008,9:15 am
at the 58th Street Chapel, Fort Hood, Texas. In the absence of the President the meeting was led by
Shirley Nagle, Lay Director. Opening prayer was said by Deacon Fred Jones.

ATTENDANCE:

Board Members present: Deacon Fred Jones, Shirley Nagle, Nyrma Navarro, Cynthia Neve, Orie Sanchez,
John Frost, and Jim DiSimoni. Members absent: Linda Abrams and Maria Sanchez.

MINUTES:

Minutes :&om the May 2 and May 30 board meetings were presented. Orie Sanchez made a motion that
minutes be accepted as submitted. Jim Disimoni seconded. Motion carried. No discussion.

OLD BUSINESS:

Report on Spanish Group: Nyrma Navarro stated thatshe has not heard anything from them. Orie Sanchez
stated that she has attended some of their Monday Ultreyas. She will follow up with their Killeen Area
Leader,Mrs. Maria Delgado, to see if there will be an issue or a problem of ordering English version
supplies for us. Discussion followed on this subject. There has been previous discussions on whether to
pay National Cursillo dues or not. We are presently waiting for a respond :&om the Military Diocese.

Update Roster: Orie Sanchez will meet with John Frost as soon as she completes the working roster. She
requested the extension to the September meeting to give her time to complete the working roster.

Picnic/Clean-up Day at Elk: John Frost asked if he could do more research on the place for the picnic
before booking Long Branch Park. The theme of the picnic is EXALTATION OF THE CROSS. He would keep
the Board informed by email. The Board accepted his request.

On the clean up Day at Elk. After length discussion -the following motion was made: Shirley Nagle moved
that we go ahead with our Fall picnic similar to last year and do not have a picnic at the Elk Retreat
Center as a clean up day and find another way to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Retreat Center.
Nyrma seconded. Discussion

followed. Nyrma Navarro said 4 mattresses have been donated so far for the Center. Two Board Members
made the pledge to buy two more making it a total of six. Nyrma suggested that it should be brought up at
the Ultreya to see if anyone else is interested in donated a mattress. She will also check with the
company to insure that they will sell them to us at about $50.00 each. Some Board Members were
concern about the Center closing. Motion carried.

MEMBER REPORTS:

President: Absent

Lay Director: Issues under new business.

Assistant Lay Director: Will be going to Elk on July 19 to take supplies that she had.

Financial Secretary: Since nothing has changed, she is giving a copy of the Treasure's report to the
secretary for the record.

Secretary: Will continue to work on updating the member's roster.

Outside Palanca Coordinator: Continues to send out palanca.

Pre-Cursillo Coordinator: Absent

Post Cursillo Coordinator: Announced that Ultreya will be held on Sunday, July 13 at 3pm. Tito Rodriguez
is the guest speaker.

Spiritual Director: There has been interested developments but have no official facts. Father Gus has
joined the National Guard and will be deploying. Father Gabriel is going on active duty next month and
probably will also be deploying in December. The name5 of Priests that have come up are Father Bob and
Father Woods to be Fort Hood Priest. Still waiting for a response from the Military Arbischop. Hopefully,
he will know more by the Women's weekend.

NEW BUSINESS:

Number of Weekends: Discussion followed. Board does not want to change 4 weekends to two weekends.
Limit team members/team formation: Board does not want to limit the number of people that work on
team. On the team formation it has been brought up to the Board of trying to cut down on the number of
team meetings. Discussion followed. Lay Director does not believe that it is a decision for the Board to
make or to be put in the By-laws.
Final decision is that Shirley Nagle will give the Coordinators the option of how many weeks thev want to
meet.


Center donations to include mattresses: Money was given to the Retreat Center owner for repairs and
now we are working on getting mattresses which might be given m the 25th Anniversary gift. John will
follow it up with another email.
Supplies: Lay Director asked Cynthia Neve to buy a heavy electric can opener to be use at the Center for
the weekends. However, since Nyrma Navarro was going to be in that area, she would buy the can
opener. Deacon Fred stated that Maria Sanchez is
storing the frozen goods from the men's weekend. There is an inventory list. Cynthia
will buy school folders.
President Status: Linda Abrams sent me an email that her husband is retiring in April, 2009. I responded
and ask to ple_se let me know her last day in office. We will need to replace her. By-Laws states: Must be
an active duty military person or a family member of an active duty military person/reservist or member
ofthe National Guard.. Discussion followed. Deacon Fred suggested that we put out on the email to see if
we ge any response.
Coordinator Status: Mona Huffman, women's coordinator, has been briefed, been given all materials, and
is in the process of selecting her team. Presently we do not have someone to be the Men's Coordinater.
August vacation/ Ultreya: The August Ultreya will be on Aug. 3 at 3pm. The picnic will serve as the
September Ultreya.

Donut Sunday: A reminder that Cursillo will be sponsoring a Donut Sunday at the Holy Family Catholic
Church on Sunday, September 14,2008 after 8:00 and 10:15 am masses. Orie Sanchez will have a form
available for people to sign. Picnic will be on tht same day at 3PM.

Being no further business Deacon Fred Jones closed with prayer at 10:36am. Next Boat( Meeting will be
Saturday, August 2,2008 at 9:00am. We will meet at the 58th Chapel, Fort Hood.
