CURSILLO BOARD MINUTES
November 6, 2005
The meeting was called to order by Eric Rodriguez, Assistant Lay Director at 4:18 p.m. at the 58th Street
Chapel. Deacon Fred opened the meeting with a prayer. Those in attendance were:
Linda Abrahams President
Shirley Nagle Assistant Lay Director
Deacon Fred Spiritual Lay Director
Eric Rodriguez Pre-Cursillo Coordinator
Cynthia Neve Financial Secretary
Phyllis Gogue Outside Palanca
Allie Krebs Secretary
Absent were:
Greg Ganslen Lay Director
Nyrma Navarro Post-Cursillo Coordinator
Old Business:
By laws were printed and signed by all board members. A motion was made by Linda and seconded by
Eric that the by laws by accepted.
Spring weekend dates were discussed. Women’s weekend would be after Easter and the men’s weekend
would be in June. There was a concern about high school graduation schedules and if they would be in
conflict with the men’s June weekend.
Steve Vitchii asked the board members to consider how non-military affiliated personnel could get on
post for the Ultraya’s, caravanning out to Elk on Thursday evening and for the closing on Sunday
evening. It was suggested that the meeting place for Thursday and Sunday evening be moved to St. Paul’
s Church in Harker Heights.
It was suggested that sponsoring details be posted on the web site so sponsors would know what their
responsibilities are when sponsoring a candidate.
The collection money from the women’s weekend went to the chaplain’s fund. Military Council of Catholic
Women (MCCW) was a designated offering.
New Business:
It was suggested that we order 250 button supplies for the next women and men’s weekends. We may be
able to get the money from the Chaplains fund.
Epiphany Party on 8 January, 2006 will be a pot luck this year. The Chaplains fund will be asked to provide
money for the meat only. Phyllis made a motion and Shirley seconded the motion that the side dishes be
brought according to the persons last name. For example those whose last name ends in A-G would
bring some kind of a hot dish, H-N bring salads, O- S bring bread or rolls, T-Z bring deserts. This is only
an example and the last letter of the names could change for what dish to bring. Everyone will bring their
own drinks.
It was discussed that the upcoming elections in January be by proxy, e-mail, and written ballot on the day
of election. This is being considered for those who would like to participate in the elections, but cannot
make the January Ultraya. If you want to vote by e-mail direct your vote to Linda Abrahams or Deacon
Fred. Nominations will take place at the December 2005 Ultraya and elections will be held at the January
2006 Ultraya. A motion for the election and voting proposal was made by Phyllis and seconded by Eric.
The positions that will be up for election are as follows: Lay Director, Pre-Cursillo Coordinator, Post
Cursillo Coordinator, and Outside Palanca Coordinator. A person may be nominated for more than one
position. A person who is being considered for nomination must be willing to accept the position.
Deacon Fred concluded the meeting with prayer at 5:20 p.m.
